The Duck defense holds the passing game to an average of less than two yards per attempt while the defense stuffed the running game for lost yards on 20 of its 48 attempts.
Outside of the former BYU and Snow JC signal-caller, Oregon quarterbacks combined to go 2-of-21 for 16 yards and an interception. The Ducks were again without redshirt sophomore Nate Costa, who is limited to non-contact drills this spring.
FILLING SNOOPS SHOES
Blount, a newcomer from the junior college ranks, broke off a 21-yard scoring run on the 19th drive of the day for the only points outside of an early 38-yard field goal from Justin Dougherty.
SPRING GAME
The Ducks have three more full spring workouts before next Saturday’s Spring Game at 2 p.m. in Autzen Stadium.
CIVIL WAR
The Civil War was first played in 1894 and is one of the oldest college football rivalries on the West Coast of the US, and the seventh longest in the nation. This will be the 111 time the teams have played and Oregon holds a series lead of 55-45-10. The game was not contested in 1900, 1901, 1911, 1943, and 1944.
The Civil War briefly had a traveling trophy, an abstract maple-carved statue of a platypus (a creature which resembles a cross between a duck and a beaver). The Platypus Trophy was awarded from 1959 to 1962, after which it disappeared. Rediscovered in 2005 in a closet at the University of Oregon's McArthur Court, there is a movement to revive the Platypus Trophy as part of Civil War tradition.
All Civil War games since 1997 have resulted in a victory for the home team.
